Deacon Chris Elenbaum brings 25 years of distinguished service in the United States Air Force, retiring as a Colonel, along with a deep and growing calling to ministry. Prior to joining The Lamb Center, he specialized in testing experimental aircraft, acquiring advanced space systems, and developing strategic plans for the U.S. Air Force. In August 2026, he was ordained as a Deacon in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and was called by the Metro DC Synod to serve at The Lamb Center, bringing his gifts for sharing the Word of God and serving neighbors in Christ’s name to this new chapter of his career.
As Pastoral Care and Outreach Coordinator at The Lamb Center, Chris provides one-on-one pastoral care to guests, getting to know their stories and walking alongside them in faith and support. He has worked in homelessness services and related fields for about two years and most enjoys learning about guests through these personal conversations.
Chris holds graduate degrees in Engineering, Military Operations, Military Strategy, and Diaconal Ministry. Outside of work, he enjoys maintaining and restoring classic cars and watching his son play soccer. His unique combination of military leadership, strategic expertise, and pastoral calling brings a distinctive perspective to The Lamb Center’s mission.
