"For the past ten years, Burke Florist has had the privilege of donating flowers for The Lamb Center’s annual fundraising event. What began as a simple way to support a wonderful local organization has become something that means a great deal to me personally.
My appreciation for nonprofit work began years earlier, when I worked for the American Red Cross from 2003 to 2008. I remember the pride and personal reward I felt working for an organization dedicated to helping others. It taught me how meaningful it is to be part of something bigger than yourself, and that feeling has stayed with me ever since.
Through Burke Florist, I’ve found another way to give back by doing something I know and love. Flowers are a part of so many meaningful moments in people’s lives. They celebrate, comfort, and simply let someone know they are cared for.
That is one of the reasons The Lamb Center’s mission means so much to me. The compassion and dignity they provide to people in our community is incredibly important. I’m grateful that Burke Florist can contribute in our own small way by helping make this special event a little more beautiful each year.

My Pest Pros
1. How and when did My Pest Pros first get connected with The Lamb Center, and how does your team support our mission today?
We first connected with The Lamb Center back in 2018, when they reached out for a pest control quote right around the time Debra and I were looking for ways to give back locally. We were already very familiar with The Lamb Center since moving to Northern Virginia in 1993, and Fairfax in 2006. We knew The Lamb Center’s reputation in the Fairfax community and wanted to do more than just win the bid. The timing was perfect. So we offered to provide pest control services completely free of charge. We’ve continued that commitment ever since and more recently added a clothing drive with donations from our staff and clients. Homelessness is a rising issue across the region and country, so we wanted to do something to support the center.
2. What does supporting neighbors experiencing homelessness mean to you and the My Pest Pros team?
Debra and I live close to The Lamb Center and have long admired the work it does for our neighbors, so supporting it felt like a natural extension of being part of this community. For our team, it’s a chance to put our skills to use in a way that goes beyond business and directly helps people who need it. Some of our technicians were surprised to learn that we do the services for no cost. They found it rewarding and meaningful to help, and it gives added purpose to their jobs of protecting health, safety and property throughout the region.
