What Is Permanent Supportive Housing?
Permanent supportive housing (PSH) pairs affordable housing with supportive services for people who face the most complex challenges, helping them live with stability, autonomy, and dignity. There is no time limit on residency, and tenants hold their own lease with the same rights and responsibilities as any renter. A study by the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services found that 94% of residents in PSH programs remained stably housed after one year.

Who Will Call Beacon Landing Home
The 54 apartments are designed primarily for single adults with very low incomes, including older adults and people with disabilities who are experiencing homelessness. Most residents will earn 30% or less of the Area Median Income. Residents will be referred through Fairfax County’s Coordinated Entry system based on assessed vulnerability, and six units are designated for individuals with Serious Mental Illness through the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services.

Inside the Building
Beacon Landing is a five-story, 43,000-square-foot community offering 42 studios, 10 one-bedroom apartments, and 2 two-bedroom apartments for individuals who require a live-in caregiver. All units feature universal design, and nine meet federal accessibility standards. The building is trauma-informed and energy-efficient, designed to meet both National Green Building Standards and Zero Energy Ready Home requirements.

Support Every Step of the Way
The Lamb Center will provide 24-hour wraparound, trauma-informed support, including case management, connection to health, mental health, and substance use services, employment and life-skills training, and income and benefits navigation. A ground-floor Employment Center will offer career coaching, job readiness programs, and direct connections to local employers.

A Partnership Rooted in Community
Beacon Landing is a partnership between The Lamb Center and Wesley Housing, in collaboration with Fairfax County, the City of Fairfax, and multiple public and private funders. Located one block from The Lamb Center, the $33.1 million project will be the largest Permanent Supportive Housing community in Northern Virginia. Faith communities are welcome to get involved too, whether through resident-requested Bible study, front desk support, or life skills classes.
