What does the local hero do?

Tara leads the effort to support the homeless at the Lamb Center. She works dilligently to provide support and services to those who need it the most in Fairfax.

Why do you believe the local hero should be recognized or honored?

After stepping in as a temporary leader, Tara has taken control of The Lamb Center (TLC) and is in the process of bringing strong leadership to a group of faith based workers to support the homeless in the area. To this end, she successfully led an effort to get a 54 unit supportive housing approved by the Fairfax City Council. There were many naysayers to overcome and coordination of all involved was extremely difficult, but Tara prevailed with assistance from all members of the staff until the measure was approved on Dec. 13.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the local hero?

She is an energetic, efficient, friendly supporter of staff, TLC neighbors and, of course, the homeless community TLC supports.

Thank you for all you do, Tara Ruszkowski!
